Hello there, my name is Susie and I’m a Vermont based writer, naturalist, and artist. This blog is dedicated to sharing about the natural world in many ways.
I’m an environmental scientist by training and I currently work for an environmental nonprofit based in Indiana where I’m focused on water & sustainability issues. Aside from my work related writing which focuses on advocacy and education around the environment, I also love to write in my nature journal and make seasonal and phenological observations.
I started the old field tree to create a platform for myself to explore different environmental & nature topics through writing, research, field notes, poetry, baking, art, and more.
