Why ‘the old field tree’?

I wanted to start a blog for the longest time, but what name shall I choose when I want to write about a variety of things?

It was this way of thinking that got me caught up in naming. So one day, I went on a walk looking for inspiration. I live next to recreational fields that are operated by the local school district here, and amongst those fields lies a stately old tree. The old field tree.

I believe it’s a green ash tree. It’s begun to wither down, but it still bears leaves. I enjoyed watched it as the seasons changed. The bluebirds would use it as a landing space as they dove down to catch insects. The crows use it for gathering, and I like to think it makes a good lookout for them. I always find a singular crow in that tree, but sometimes there’s more.

I noticed it one day and I thought to myself, the old field tree, that would be a perfect name for my blog about nature! And so it was.

Below are some of my favorite shots of the old field tree, the inspiration behind the name of my blog. Enjoy ❤️
